Peacevine Cherry Tomato (Lycopersion esculentum)

Bring a sense of abundance to your garden with the Peacevine Tomato. Developed by legendary breeder Alan Kapuler, this non-GMO cherry variety is famous for its staggering yields and incredible nutritional profile. The vines produce massive clusters of uniform, 1-inch red fruits that are exceptionally high in Vitamin C and amino acids. With a complex, sweet-tart flavor, these cherry tomatoes are a favorite for snacking right off the vine.

Seed & Planting Care

As an indeterminate variety, Peacevine is a vigorous grower that rewards the gardener with a long, continuous harvest.

  • Sowing Method: Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last expected frost.

  • Sowing Depth: Plant seeds 1/4" deep in high-quality seed starting mix.

  • Germination: Maintain a soil temperature of 70–80°F for optimal sprouting. Seedlings typically emerge in 7–14 days.

  • Transplanting: Move outdoors only after the soil has warmed and nighttime temperatures stay consistently above 50°F.

  • Hardening Off: Gradually acclimate young plants to outdoor conditions (sun and wind) over the course of a week before transplanting.

Growing & Maintenance

  • Days to Maturity: 78 days.

  • Growth Habit: Indeterminate. This means the vines will continue to grow and produce fruit until the first frost.

  • Support Required: Due to its prolific nature and vigorous vines, this plant requires a sturdy tall cage or trellis system to keep the fruit off the ground.

  • Sun & Water: Requires full sun (at least 6–8 hours). Water consistently at the base of the plant to prevent fruit cracking and blossom end rot.

  • The "Yellow" Trait: While primarily deep red, Peacevine is known to occasionally produce a few yellow fruits on the same plant—a unique genetic trait from its breeding history.

Nutritional Profile

Peacevine isn't just a name; it was selected for its high concentrations of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a natural amino acid, and its remarkably high Vitamin C content. It truly is a "feel-good" addition to your vegetable patch.
