About the Artist: Publishing the Stories of the Forest

As an artist, my mission is Ostranenie: presenting common things in an unfamiliar way to enhance our perception of the familiar. Trees are nature’s historians, recording everything from the activity of a wood ant to shifts in the global climate. I see myself as a publisher of stories written in wood. My process is rooted in a deep respect for the environment:

  • Ethically Sourced: I never cut down trees. I gather wood only from previously fallen trees in significant locations like National Parks, forests, or historical sites.

  • Hand-Pressed: Inspired by the work of Bryan Nash Gill, I hand-pull every print. These are authentic woodcuts, not machine-made reproductions.

  • Truly Unique: Every print is a one-of-a-kind work of art, capturing the unique history of the specific tree it was crafted from.

San Francisco Redwood: Hand-Pressed Tree Ring Print

Bring the timeless majesty of California’s redwoods into your home.

This 36x48 inch woodcut is a rare look back in time, sourced from a fallen redwood on the outskirts of San Francisco. Counting the rings on a redwood of this age is a powerful experience, revealing decades—or even centuries—of environmental history.

Why You’ll Love This Piece

  • Authentic Craftsmanship: Hand-pressed with high-quality textured ink, this print captures the organic detail of the real wood grain in a striking black and gold aesthetic.

  • A Natural Focal Point: Its massive scale and rich colors make it a perfect statement piece for modern, rustic, or office decor.

  • Eco-Conscious Fine Art: By using only fallen timber, this artwork celebrates the tree’s life and ecological significance without harming the forest.

  • A Conversation Starter: More than just decoration, this piece invites viewers to appreciate the resilience and silent stories of the world's most iconic trees.

Customization & Care

  • Personalization: I am happy to customize the color and paper size to fit your specific vision. Just send me a message.

  • Your Wood, My Art: If you have a meaningful piece of wood from your own property, I am available for personalized commissions.

  • Framing Advice: To prevent damage, I ship all prints unframed. Because I use very high-quality paper, these prints can be framed without glass (similar to a canvas). I recommend consulting a local frame shop for the best results on a piece this size.

  • My Guarantee: I stand by my work. If you aren’t completely satisfied, I offer a full, no-questions-asked refund.
