About the Artist: Publishing the Stories of the Forest

As an artist, my mission is Ostranenie: presenting common things in an unfamiliar way to enhance our perception of the familiar. Trees are nature’s historians, recording everything from the activity of a wood ant to shifts in the global climate. I see myself as a publisher of stories written in wood. My process is rooted in a deep respect for the environment:

  • Ethically Sourced: I never cut down trees. I gather wood only from previously fallen trees in significant locations.

  • Hand-Pressed: Every piece is a hand-pulled woodcut print, not a machine reproduction. I consider each a work of art as unique as the tree itself.

  • A Living Record: By printing the cross-section of a tree, I am sharing a story written over decades or centuries. Each print is hand-signed as a mark of my craftsmanship.

Florida Cypress: A Celebration of Natural Beauty

Bring the vibrant charm and ancient history of the Sunshine State into your home.

This 36x36 inch woodcut is a handmade masterpiece pulled from a fallen Florida Cypress. The intricate ring patterns capture the essence of Florida's unique wetlands, offering a dramatic and elegant record of time’s passage.

Why You’ll Love This Piece

  • Authentic Hand-Pressed Art: This is a genuine woodcut. Using high-quality textured ink, I capture the raw, organic detail of the Cypress grain that digital prints simply cannot replicate.

  • Bold Statement Size: At 36x36 inches, this square format makes a stunning centerpiece for a living room, office, or entryway, transforming your wall into a canvas of inspiration.

  • Meaningful History: Tree rings symbolize growth and resilience. This makes it an ideal "paper" gift for a 1st anniversary or a meaningful tribute to Florida’s natural heritage.

  • Sustainable & Ethical: Sourced from naturally fallen timber in Florida, this print celebrates the beauty of the Everglades and big cypress forests through responsible art practices.

Customization & Care

  • Framing Advice: To ensure your print arrives in perfect condition, I ship all artwork unframed. Because I use premium, heavy paper, this piece can be framed without glass for a modern, textured look. I am happy to provide framing suggestions upon request.

  • My Guarantee: I stand by my work. If you aren’t completely satisfied with the artwork, I offer a full, no-questions-asked refund.
