Diego Olivero Coyuca Glass Vessel

A luminous reimagining of form, light, and neo-primitive texture.

The Coyuca Vessel is a sophisticated evolution of Diego Olivero’s signature sculptural language. While the original Coyuca series gained international acclaim for its textured terracotta, this glass iteration translates that "neo-primitive" aesthetic into a medium of transparency and fluid light.

Handcrafted by master glassblowers in Guadalajara, Mexico, each vessel is a testament to technical mastery. The iconic spiked texture—traditionally rendered in clay—is achieved here by fusing individual droplets of molten glass onto the body. The result is a rhythmic, shimmering relief that catches and refracts light, turning a simple vessel into a dynamic, luminous centerpiece.

Design & Aesthetic

The Coyuca Glass Vessel retains the iconic silhouette of its ceramic predecessor but exchanges heavy matte earthiness for the delicate, fluid nature of mouth-blown glass.

The Spiked Relief: These "beads" are fused by hand, creating a technical challenge that ensures no two pieces are identical.

Material Integrity: Crafted from 100% recycled glass, the material features a characteristic tint and tiny, unique bubbles (seeds) that serve as the fingerprints of its handcrafted origin.

Sophisticated Palette: Available in classic Clear to emphasize purity, as well as depth-heavy tones like Amber, Smoke, and Cobalt that further accentuate the textured surface.

Diego Olivero Studio: The Mission

Celebrating the People, the Place, and the Process.

Based in Brooklyn and Guatemala, Diego Olivero Studio is a multidisciplinary design practice rooted in the belief that design should tell a story of global connection. For over 12 years, we have bridged the gap between modern luxury and artisanal heritage, developing deep relationships with master craftspeople across Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, India, and beyond.

Our work—ranging from award-winning product collections to expansive interior design projects in New York, London, and Brazil—celebrates the "social impact" of design. By partnering with international brands and local artisans, we create pieces that honor traditional techniques while pushing the boundaries of contemporary style. From the London Design Biennale to the U.S. State Department collection, our studio is dedicated to design that is intentional, artisanal, and world-class.

Craftsmanship & Sustainability

Mouth-Blown Technique: Each vessel is shaped without a fixed mold, resulting in slight variations in height and circumference that mark it as an original work of art.

Sustainable Luxury: By utilizing recycled glass, Olivero minimizes environmental impact while supporting the centuries-old glass-blowing heritage of the Jalisco region.

Artisanal Collaboration: This piece represents a sophisticated fusion of traditional Mexican artistry and Olivero’s modern, socially conscious design language.
