Vintage Persian Veece "Shield & Silver" Grand Carpet (Circa 1960s)

Discover the rare and captivating aesthetic of the Veece region with this mid-century masterpiece. While many Persian carpets favor dense floral motifs, this 1960s vintage piece focuses on power, protection, and negative space. It is an architectural textile that uses ancient tribal symbols to create a strikingly modern, "cool-toned" atmosphere.

Why It’s Unique

This Veece carpet is distinguished by its heraldic symbolism and a rare, shimmering "metallic" color story.

Shield-Style Medallion Architecture: The centerpiece is a massive medallion featuring "shield-like" interior roundels and stepped contours. This rigid, protective geometry gives the rug a sense of strength and historical gravity.

Dramatic Ram’s Horn Finials: Flanking the central medallion are dramatic "Ram’s Horn" (Kocak) minor medallions. In tribal weaving, this motif represents masculinity, power, and fertility. Their bold, shield-like presence against the open field creates a visual impact that is both ancient and avant-garde.

"Open Field" with Germinating Accents: The expansive ground is purposefully open, allowing the viewer to appreciate the subtle "shimmer" of the wool. It is delicately wrapped with germinating plant motifs, symbolizing growth and the coming of spring.

The "Platinum & Ice" Palette: This is an exceptionally rare color story for a Persian rug. It trades heavy reds for dusty platinum, silver, and antique ivory, punctuated by whispers of pale sky blue and dusty beige. This "iced" palette is perfect for contemporary, minimalist, or high-end coastal interiors.

Condition & Artisan Character

Recently professionally cleaned, this 1960s vintage treasure is in excellent condition for its age. It exhibits a beautiful, low-profile patina with even wear across to the knot heads and a faint whisper of the foundation showing through—a texture that ensures the rug sits flat and elegantly on the floor.

Most of the original side cord selvages are intact or expertly restored, and the sides and ends are fully secured, ensuring this unique piece of Veece history is ready for decades of in-home use.
