Vintage Persian Tabriz "Silver & Samovar" Grand Carpet (Circa 1940s)

Bring a touch of mid-century Persian elegance to your home with this expansive hand-knotted Tabriz. Woven in the 1940s, this carpet originates from a city renowned for producing the most sophisticated and technically perfect rugs in the world. This piece is a masterclass in subtlety, trading bold contrasts for a refined, "hushed" color story that creates an atmosphere of timeless tranquility.

Why It’s Unique

This Tabriz is distinguished by its oversized proportions and a rare, "oxidized" metallic color palette.

"Oxidized Silver" Aesthetic: Unlike the typical vibrant reds of the era, this carpet features a sophisticated foundation of oxidized silver and powder blue. This cool, shimmering palette is balanced by earthy notes of pale terracotta, sand, and chocolate brown, making it an ideal match for both modern minimalist and classic coastal interiors.

Northwest Samovar-Turtle Border: The rug is framed by a distinctive main border design originating from Northwest Persian traditions. It features the "Turtle Samovar"—a stylized motif representing strength and hospitality—weaving a narrative of history around the central field.

The "Infinite" Herati Field: The entire field is covered in a meticulous Herati (fish and leaf) motif. By omitting a central medallion, the design feels "infinite" and expansive, allowing the 11-foot length of the carpet to flow uninterrupted under dining tables or seating groups without the need to center furniture.

Stately Proportions: Measuring 7'7" x 11', this is a true "anchor" piece, designed to unify a large room while providing the soft, low-profile texture for which vintage Tabriz weaves are prized.

Condition & Quality

This 1940s vintage carpet has been professionally cleaned and is ready for immediate in-home use. It displays a beautiful, mostly even wear across to the knot heads, with small, isolated areas where the foundation peeks through—a hallmark of an authentic vintage piece that adds a soft, "lived-in" patina.

The ends are fully secured, and the sides have been machine-bound to ensure crisp, straight edges that will remain stable under heavy furniture for decades to come.
