Vintage Persian Sarouk "Painted Garden" Carpet (Circa 1940s)

Capture the timeless romance of the "American Sarouk" era with this stunning hand-knotted Persian carpet. Woven in the 1940s, this piece is a classic representation of the Sarouk region’s mastery, celebrated for its plush wool, sophisticated floral arrangements, and deep, regal tones that have made these rugs a staple of luxury interiors for decades.

Why It’s Unique

This Sarouk is distinguished by its botanical depth and a rare, seafoam-accented color story.

Floral Sprays & Bouquets: Rather than a single central medallion, the field is adorned with elegant floral sprays and bouquets that appear to float across the ground. This "all-over" style provides a continuous flow of pattern that makes it easy to arrange furniture upon.

Lotus & Arabesque Borders: The rug features an exceptionally detailed border system. The main border showcases a repeating arrangement of lotus flower cross-sections, framed by inner and outer minor borders in flowing, scrolling arabesques.

Unique "Seafoam" Accents: While classic Sarouks rely heavily on reds and blues, this piece features a refreshing use of seafoam green, alongside powder blue, pale coffee brown, and dark chocolate, adding a layer of "cool" complexity to the warm brick-red foundation.

Artisanal Abrashes: You will find beautiful abrashes (natural color variations) primarily isolated to the outer strip borders. These ripples of shifting color are the hallmark of hand-dyed wool and add an authentic vintage "soul" to the carpet.

Condition & Heritage

This 1940s vintage carpet has been professionally cleaned and is ready to anchor your home. It displays a genuine antique character with varying areas of pile, knot heads, and foundation showing through, creating a sought-after "distressed" elegance.

Note: Most original side cord selvages are intact or restored, and the ends are fully secured. There is one minor "dog-eared" corner, a small structural quirk common in authentic hand-knotted village rugs of this age.
