Radish Microgreens (Raphanus sativus)
Bring a bold, peppery "zip" to your kitchen with one of the fastest and most nutritious microgreens in the world. Radish Microgreens deliver the sharp, spicy flavor and satisfying crunch of a full-grown radish in just a fraction of the time. Whether you choose the vibrant China Rose with its touch of pink or the classic Cherry Bell, these greens are nutritional powerhouses—boasting 29 times more Vitamin C than milk and 10 times the calcium of a potato.
Seed & Planting Care
Radishes are the "instant gratification" crop of the microgreen world. They are incredibly hardy, germinate almost overnight, and are nearly fail-proof for beginners.
-
Sowing Method: Use shallow trays with drainage holes filled with 1–2 inches of moist potting soil or a coconut coir medium.
-
Sowing Density: Spread seeds thickly and evenly across the soil surface. They should be close together (like a dense carpet) but not piled on top of each other.
-
Sowing Depth: Radish seeds do not need to be buried deep. Simply press them firmly into the moist soil or cover with a very thin dusting of soil.
-
The Blackout Period: Cover the tray with a lid or another tray for the first 2–3 days. This encourages the stems to stretch, providing a longer "handle" for easier harvesting.
-
The "Weighted" Method (Optional): Placing a small weight on the cover tray for the first 48 hours will result in stronger, more uniform roots.
-
Watering: Mist the surface twice daily until sprouts appear. Once established, switch to bottom-watering to keep the stems clean and dry.
Harvest & Quality
-
Incredible Speed: These are ready to harvest in as little as 5–7 days!
-
When to Harvest: Snip with sharp scissors when the seedlings are 2–3 inches tall and the heart-shaped "seed leaves" (cotyledons) are fully open and vibrant.
-
Flavor Profile: Sharp, hot, and spicy. They provide a refreshing "bite" that elevates tacos, burgers, and fresh spring salads.
-
Maximum Nutrition: Harvest at the microgreen stage to capture peak levels of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Calcium.
A Legacy of Health
Derived from the Latin radix (meaning "root"), radishes are one of history’s earliest cultivated vegetables. While the roots are famous, the microgreens are the true heroes of the modern kitchen, offering more Vitamin C than a pineapple in every spicy handful.
Please Note: This listing is for premium seeds specifically selected for microgreen production. We do not ship fresh produce.
