Pea Shoots (Pisum sativum)
Indulge in the sweet, fresh-from-the-garden flavor of Pea Shoots. Specially selected for microgreen production, these seeds produce robust, succulent stems and tender leafy tendrils. They are a favorite for children and chefs alike because they taste exactly like snap peas! Packed with vitamins A and C and high in protein, they add a crunchy, nutritious boost to stir-fries, salads, and sandwiches.
Seed & Planting Care
Pea seeds are large and hardy, making them one of the easiest and most "fail-proof" microgreens to grow. To get the best yields and the crunchiest stems, follow these simple steps:
-
Pre-Soak for Success: Because pea seeds have a thick, hard coat, you must soak them in a bowl of cool water for 8–12 hours before planting. This ensures fast, even germination.
-
Sowing Method: Use a tray with drainage holes and about 1–2 inches of potting soil or coconut coir.
-
Sowing Density: After soaking, spread the seeds thickly across the soil. The seeds should be touching each other, covering the soil surface completely like a layer of marbles.
-
Sowing Depth: You can either leave the seeds on the surface and press them in firmly or cover them with a thin (1/4") layer of soil.
-
The "Weighted" Phase: Place another tray on top of your seeds and add a weight (like a brick or heavy book) for 3–4 days. This pressure forces the roots deep into the soil and results in a more uniform, upright crop.
-
Watering: Keep the soil moist. Once the shoots are an inch tall, water from the bottom of the tray to keep the lush foliage dry.
Harvest & Quality
-
Harvest Timeline: Ready to enjoy in 10–14 days.
-
When to Harvest: Snip the shoots with scissors just above the soil line when they are 3–6 inches tall.
-
Regrowth Tip: If you leave at least one leaf at the base when you snip, pea shoots will often grow back for a second harvest!
-
Flavor Profile: Remarkably sweet and crunchy with a distinct "green pea" finish.
Why Choose Our Seeds?
These seeds have been specifically tested for high germination rates and vigorous growth in microgreen trays. They are selected to produce thick stems and beautiful tendrils rather than the woody vines of garden peas.
Please Note: This listing is for premium seeds intended for sprouting and microgreens. We do not ship fresh produce.
